March
Madness Betting Menu
It’s NCAA
Tournament time, and we’re here to discuss the huge March Madness betting menu.
Key
Points
- There
are numerous ways to bet on March Madness.
Each year,
millions of sports fans and bettors will wager on the NCAA men’s basketball
tournament, commonly known as March
Madness. College basketball teams typically finish
their regular seasons at the end of February or in early March.
By
mid-March, conferences have held their tournaments and have crowned their
champions. The NCAA’s selection committee selects 36 at-large teams and adds
them to the 32 conference tournament champions to create the 68-team bracket.
The result
is a four-week extravaganza full of numerous betting opportunities. What
exactly is on the March Madness betting menu?
The
Futures Market
From the
preseason on, bettors can always look into the futures market and place bets at
the best
bookmakers. The number of bets will decrease as the
season goes on, but one bet that is always available even as March Madness
begins is on the national champion.
Getting
into the NCAA champion market early offers better odds, but bettors can still
find value on some very good teams with the potential to win it all right up
until the NCAA
tournament begins.
Bettors can
still find No. 1, 2 and 3 seeds priced anywhere from +500 to +2000 before March
Madness even tips off. Odds will shorten as teams advance, but bettors can get
an idea how a team is playing and eventually pull the trigger.

Traditional
Bets - March Madness Betting
The
majority of bets placed during the NCAA tournament will be traditional bets on
the moneyline, point spread, or game totals. Moneyline bets are the easiest for
recreational bettors or those that only bet on big events like March Madness.
In a
moneyline bet, the bettor wagers on a team to win regardless of NCAAB
scores. With the number of upsets in the NCAA tournament, finding the
right underdog (or underdogs) can be very profitable.
Point
spread betting is also popular. It’s important to understand how you win a point
spread bet before making the wager. When betting on a favorite, your team must
win by a certain number of points for the bet to pay.
For
example, if Team A is favored by four points (Team A -4), then Team A must win
by five points or more for your bet to cash. Likewise you can win on an
underdog if the underdog wins or loses by a certain amount of points.
Using the
same example, if Team B wins or loses by three points or less, you are a
winner.
March
Madness Betting - Prop Bets
Another fun
market when looking at March Madness betting is prop bets.
There are
all sorts of prop bets such as team props, player props, and other special
bets. Some of the more popular team props are the Over/Under on how many points
a team will score in a game or which team will score a certain number of points
first. The “Race to 20” is an example of this type of prop bet.
Player prop
bets are very popular during March Madness. Bettors can place wagers on players
point totals, rebound totals, assist totals, and more.
There are numerous
ways to bet on March Madness. Because of the annual event’s popularity, the
betting menu is large and waiting for bettors of all experience levels to take
advantage.
